The latest video of Sam playing with her toys. Notice that she sitting up while she does it! She still can't get herself into a sitting position - and she falls over quite a bit - but her skills are improving everyday. She loves these drums that she got from Grandma and Grandpa Hubbard for Christmas!

Six Months Old!
Sam is officially six months old! I can't believe it's been 1/2 year already. Everyone tells you that time flies once you have a baby but (like most things) you can't really appreciate until it happens to you.
Just for reference, Sam was 19 inches long and 7 lbs 13 oz when born. She is now 27 1/4 inches long and weighs 17 lbs 14 oz! She's in the 90th percentile in length and 85th in weight. The doctor says she's right on track developmentally!

First Food
For Sam's sixth month birthday, she got her first taste of real food! If you consider organic oatmeal mixed with breastmilk "real food." We got the first bite on video - her facial expressions are priceless!

Sam decided to take matters into her own hands. Apparently the rubber-tipped spoon tasted better than the cereal. Notice Supernanny watching over her shoulder. Oh the things should would say to us if she "observed" at our house for a day :)

She was a great sport about it. I think she liked smearing the oatmeal around her face more than anything.

She got the hang of it pretty quick as you'll see in this next video (warning: it's kinda long). Again, love the facial expressions!

New Dog Park
We discovered a new dog park that rocks! There's one close to our house but it's totally ghetto - basically just a big fenced in yard with no shade, water or anywhere to sit down. The new one is farther away but is HUGE with tons of great toys, trees, and dogs. I never quite understood how important trees are to a dog park but they really are. Trees provide shade for the owners but, way more importantly, they provide all kinds of places for the dogs to "leave each other messages." Rosco loves to check the messages on all the trees around the park :)
Today, Sam and I waiting outside of the fence and played on our blanket. Got some great pictures of us hanging out.
Sometimes she cracks me up. She looks so serious. I always think, what can be so troubling in her life????

This is a pretty typical sight. Because everything just has to go in her mouth, she pulls the toys right on top of her face and then yells because she can't see.

The Many Moods of Samantha
Sam has an amazing capability to flow through emotions at the speed of light. Here's a video showing how her toys can causer her: (1) amazement, (2) enjoyment, (3) frustration, and (4) anger. These emotions just seem to cycle through one after the next after the next. You'll also notice in this video how chatty she is these days - certainly not a quiet baby!
